<p>Double-membrane reference electrodes are used for installation in soil. The unit should be positioned above the inspected structure. To perform measurements, the device must be buried to a level below the soil freezing depth. The conductors can be routed to a control measurement point or to a cover. The unit may be operated at ambient temperatures not lower than -5 and not higher than +45 degrees Celsius.</p>
<p>If required, reference electrodes can be ordered with auxiliary electrodes and an installation container. The device housing is made of durable material and filled with bentonite. The filler prevents diffusion between the soil and the electrolyte. Constant contact with the soil is ensured by the presence of capillary channels.</p>

<p>Modernized copper sulfate reference electrodes of the MES-02-(P-K)-G-VE-M model are stationary. They are installed directly above the metal structure. The reference electrode is buried in the soil to a level below the soil freezing depth. Measurements performed using the device comply with GOST requirements.</p>
<p>The outer housing of the reference electrode is made of porous ceramic, which increases its service life. The material ensures stable operation of the unit in different soil types. The inner housing is surrounded by bentonite filler, which provides moisture retention. A spiral electrode made of pure copper is immersed in copper sulfate. <p>The device is intended for control measurements on underground metal structures, including pipelines and other constructions. Modernized copper sulfate reference electrodes with an auxiliary electrode make it possible to determine the degree of protection of the facility against corrosion.</p>
<p>The method of operation of the electrodes consists in installing the device below the soil freezing depth. The measurements are based on oxidation and reduction reactions. The design provides for bringing the conductors directly to a cover or to KIP. The modernized reference electrodes are non-polarizable and have a long service life.</p>

<h3>Technical features</h3>
<p>Two modification types of reference electrodes are available. Their difference lies in the auxiliary electrode, which is present in the ESMC-M-VE model. The ESMC device does not have such an electrode. Inside the housing of the additional element there is copper sulfate. A spiral-shaped copper electrode made of refined copper is located in it.</p>
<p>During operation of the device, the preservation of the electrolyte volume in the housing is ensured by an ion membrane. With its help, electrolytic contact of the mass with the electrode is constantly maintained. The material of the contact mass is bentonite clay. Its purpose in the device is to ensure contact with the soil under conditions of low moisture. A porous diaphragm located in the lower part of the device housing serves to provide contact between the soil and the mass.</p>
<p>The auxiliary electrode makes it possible to measure the polarization potential in a pipeline. It is present in the ESMC-M-VE modification model. The equipment is supplied with cable outlets already installed, which have marking tags. This significantly simplifies maintenance of the modernized copper sulfate reference electrodes with an auxiliary electrode. The minimum length of the outlet cables is 5 meters and can be increased at the request of the customer.</p>
<p>One of the important advantages of these ES devices is the stable values of their own potential. Due to this, the measurements are максимально accurate. The minimum operating temperature is -5 °C, the maximum is +45 °C.</p>
<p>Copper sulfate reference electrodes have a special container for installation. Its housing consists of:</p>

</ul>
<p>The PVC container is intended for installation and removal of the device from the soil surface. The material is sufficiently strong and does not deform during operation. <p>The cable outlet points are hermetically sealed. The standard length of the installation container is 220 cm. The customer can change this parameter when placing an order. The price will depend on the selected length. The diameter has a constant value of 16 cm.</p>
<p>To establish contact of the electrode with the soil surface, the container has perforations at the bottom of the device. The upper part of the installation container is closed and completely sealed.</p>

<h3>Technical description</h3>
<p>To ensure a stable electrolytic junction between the reference electrode and the soil electrolyte at the level of the lowest resistance required when performing specific measurements of protective potential values, an ion-exchange ceramic membrane with standardized porosity is used in the long-life reference electrode. The internal cavity of the outer housing is filled with a contact electrolytic mass based on bentonite clay. The inner housing of KMG-MES-02-(P-K)-(G-T)-VE-M is filled with a gel-like saturated copper solution in which the electrode is located in the form of a spiral made of pure refined copper.</p>
<p>Under certain soil conditions, such as increased soil resistivity, the so-called “arid soils”, the KMG-MES-02-(P-K)-(G-T)-VE-M reference electrode gains higher stability and durability due to the fact that the outer housing is filled with a special moisture-retaining electrolytic mass based on bentonite.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We offer copper sulfate single-membrane reference electrodes based on a solid electrolyte with an auxiliary electrode, modernized type KMG-MES-01-(K)-T-VE-M, which are used in cathodic protection systems for underground steel pipelines and structures, as well as in water, in aqueous electrolyte solutions – produced water from watered crude oil, oil, diesel fuel, gas condensate, fuel oil, and vacuum gas oil. KMG-MES-01-(K)-T-VE-M is a stationary device with a long service life for measuring polarization and total potentials.</p>
<p>KMG-MES-01-(K)-T-VE-M are installed directly in the soil at the level of the lower generatrix of the protected structure, at a distance of no more than 0.1 m. The installation depth is selected according to the location of the underground metal structure. It is important that KMG-MES-01-(K)-T-VE-M is located below the soil freezing depth. The cables are equipped with terminals for connection to the terminal panel in KIP or in a cover.</p>
<p>Equipped with an auxiliary electrode made of carbon steel with a contact area of at least 625 mm2. They can also be used as portable units.</p>
<h3>Advantages</h3>
<p>The product is supplied fully factory-ready for operation, i.e., it does not require prolonged pre-soaking before installation in the soil to activate the electrolytic junction.</p>
<p>The housing of KMG-MES-01-(K)-T-VE-M is made of impact-resistant frost-resistant material and is completely sealed.</p>
<p>Electrolytic contact with the soil is formed through capillary channels of the external ceramic membrane with standardized porosity.</p>
<p>The length of the cables of the reference electrode and the auxiliary electrode is not fixed and is specified by the customer.</p>
<p>The presence of an additional chamber (double-membrane reference electrodes) eliminates mutual diffusion of the electrode electrolyte and soil electrolyte by using a solid-state electrolyte based on bentonite.</p>
