MES-01-(K)-G-VE are stationary single-membrane copper sulfate reference electrodes with gel filling and an auxiliary electrode, equipped with a ceramic membrane.

Description

Polarization, including total, potentials present on underground steel pipelines and structures are measured using so-called reference electrodes, which can be purchased on our website. They are used in cathodic protection systems against corrosion. The main characteristics are:

  • Service life – from 30 years;
  • Spreading resistance – up to 5 kΩ;
  • Potential relative to a laboratory silver/silver chloride reference electrode – 100 mV with an accuracy of ±20;
  • Cable outlet length – not less than 200 cm;
  • Weight – not more than 2500 g.

They are installed in any type of soil at a depth associated with the laying of underground metal structures. The installation depth is below the soil freezing level, with routing of conductors through a cover or to KIP; they can also be used as portable. This electrochemical system is considered non-polarizable and provides the longest service life.

Electrolytic contact with the soil is provided by capillary channels with an external ceramic membrane having standardized porosity. The length of the connecting cables is determined according to the customer’s requirements. The use of a bentonite chamber prevents mutual diffusion of the two media – the electrode electrolyte and the soil electrolyte.
