PM-5 must be purchased for the protection of engineering networks against corrosion. Magnesium anodes are an effective option for creating cathodic protection for pipelines in the oil and gas industry. They can also be used for other metallic structures.
PM-type protectors consist of a magnesium alloy packaged in cotton bags. Inside the magnesium casting is a steel core. Its lead is connected to a cable. Magnesium protectors PM-5 can be ordered in several modifications. The metal protection functions are provided by generating a protective potential.
PM-5 is installed directly into a borehole that must be drilled in advance. The bag with the magnesium casting is lowered to the required depth, covered with soil, and compacted around it. To activate the reaction, water must be added to the trench or borehole. The lead wire is connected via terminals to the control measurement point. A separate terminal is provided for connecting the drainage cable.
The price of PM-5 depends on the selected product modification. Each protector has several advantages. The main ones include the ability to use in soils with resistance up to 50 Ohm·m. The cotton bag contains a powder activator, which allows achieving a high potential.
