Description
The device has two terminals. After exceeding the clamping voltage, the volt-ampere characteristic exhibits very low differential resistance, allowing effective limitation of the voltage between the two electrodes even under significant surge currents.
Due to its higher blocking voltage compared to the polarization voltage, the DRE does not require series-connected devices, making it an optimal component for isolation and grounding of structures with cathodic protection.
A major advantage of the DRE compared to varistors and arresters is its ability to maintain lightning-induced overvoltages at the lowest possible level.
