Description
Double-membrane copper sulfate reference electrodes based on a combined gel and solid electrolyte with an auxiliary electrode of type KMG-MES-02-(P-K)-(G-T)-VE manufactured by KM GROUP are used in cathodic protection systems against corrosion and should be purchased on our website. These products allow measuring polarization and total potentials of underground metal structures. Due to the fact that KM GROUP products use a unique development — “gel technology”, KMG-MES-02-(P-K)-(G-T)-VE provide the most stable, compared to similar products from other manufacturers, electrolytic junction between the reference electrode and the soil electrolyte at the level of the lowest resistance required when performing specific measurements of protective potential values.
Stationary copper sulfate reference electrodes KMG-MES-02-(P-K)-(G-T)-VE are long-life devices. The service life of the products is at least 30 years. Installation is carried out directly in the soil at the level of the lower generatrix of the protected structure, at a distance of no more than 0.1 m; KMG-MES-02-(P-K)-(G-T)-VE must be located below the soil freezing depth. The cables are equipped with terminals for connection to the terminal panel in KIP or in a cover. The product is supplied fully factory-ready for operation, i.e., it does not require prolonged pre-soaking before installation in the soil to activate the electrolytic junction. In the standard version, reference electrodes are manufactured for regions with climate “UHL”, category 1 according to GOST 15150. Ordering is available on our website; delivery throughout Kazakhstan and CIS countries is provided.
Technical description
To ensure a stable electrolytic junction between the reference electrode and the soil electrolyte at the level of the lowest resistance required when performing specific measurements of protective potential values, an ion-exchange ceramic membrane with standardized porosity is used in the long-life reference electrode. The internal cavity of the outer housing is filled with a contact electrolytic mass based on bentonite clay. The inner housing of KMG-MES-02-(P-K)-(G-T)-VE is filled with a gel-like saturated copper solution in which the electrode is located in the form of a spiral made of pure refined copper.
Under certain soil conditions, such as increased soil resistivity, the so-called “arid soils”, the KMG-MES-02-(P-K)-(G-T)-VE reference electrode gains higher stability and durability due to the fact that the outer housing is filled with a special moisture-retaining electrolytic mass based on bentonite.
To ensure convenient installation and subsequent operation of the products, the cables of the reference electrode and the auxiliary electrode are equipped with cable lugs for connection in KIP.
