Description
The UZT device is предназначено for diverting alternating current induced as a result of electromagnetic воздействие from high-voltage overhead power lines and other high-voltage sources. The device does not affect the protective potential created by the cathodic protection (CP) system of the pipeline.
UZT should be installed in locations with hazardous influence of AC sources from overhead and cable power lines with voltage of 110 kV and higher, as well as AC electrified railways, namely:
- along sections where the pipeline runs parallel to overhead lines (OHL), cable lines (CL), or electrified railways;
- at pipeline crossings with OHL, CL, or electrified railways;
- at points where pipelines approach or diverge from OHL, CL, or electrified railways.
Main functions of the AC drainage protection system:
- diverting AC induced in the pipeline by high-voltage power lines through the grounding circuit;
- preventing leakage of the CP protective potential, unlike standard pipeline grounding;
- measuring the diverted AC current via a transformer integrated into the unit’s circuit.
The UZT is a box housing the following components:
- a capacitor unit for diverting AC to the grounding device;
- surge protection device against atmospheric overvoltages (lightning protection) — gas discharge arrester;
- a transformer for measuring the diverted AC current;
- a frequency filter (standard version with 1100 Hz cutoff) to prevent leakage of AC of a fixed frequency when electrochemical equipment is installed on the pipeline.
